I really like the return, actually.

I love the return.

But the full power of Bathory is completely on display and under the sign of Blackmark.

Right.

I feel like you can do very cool Viking stuff.

Listening to this made me go back and listen to a lot of Bathory, even their Viking era with Hammerheart and Bloodfire Death.

Yeah.

What's the album called? Is it called Bloodfire Death? Yeah,

And we've just become great friends since then.

But working on that score, I was listening to Bathory and Wolves in the Throne Room and Heilung and trying to get into that space of these really primitive sounds and animal skin drums and these deep, really low growly vocals.

just trying to immerse myself in it and you know Wayne and the rest of the guys in Wilderon who recorded on the score were great at at just you know sending me some some music here and there so I tried to immerse myself in it as much as possible I really do need to revisit it though because I feel like I have these moments that I spend so much time with music that um is new to me in that Discovery phase and then it just it's a chapter and then like I'm moving on to something else I'm listening to other things but So I don't actively listen to that stuff as much anymore.

But man, I remember coming into the studio every morning and just hitting play and listening to death metal and black metal for like 45 minutes at a time.

You know? King Diamond and Merciful Fate, that kind of stuff.

Like, you know, Bathory, all these old, you know, 80s underground bands, that stuff wasn't going to get touched.

But because of the cost to record bands, it dropped so drastically.

That's why we started seeing that.

At the Gates, Terminal Spirit Disease, phenomenal.

Bathory, Requiem, maybe future podcast subjects on both of those bands.

Behemoth's debut EP and The Forest Dream Eternally.

Benediction has an EP this year, The Grotesque and Ashen Epitaph.

Just anything you guys wanna say about, like-

And, uh, we listened to Bathory, right?

Uh, so, uh, we didn't really find what we were looking for until, uh...

I mean, early Bathory, no, early Manowar stuff.

... yeah, I mean, of course Cronos was, you know, I thought one of the, Cr- Cronos, like Lemmy, you know, Quorthon from Bathory, you know, that, Bathory-

Yeah

...

And then prior to that, he was in Eternal Evil and Overture.

But you know what I love about this? It kind of has the vibe of early Morbid Angel, but with like a bit of Bathory thrown in for good measure.

Yeah.

Like a little bit of Venom.
