Batesville

So it was a stroke of luck that I wound up in four wheels and, Thank goodness my mom and my dad pushed me that direction.

When did, was there a lot of racetracks in the Batesville area, I'm guessing?

One.

One,

Uh, and those are two, those, those are two of the most important races in my life because we had no idea we could win.

And being, being as young as you were, were you, were you starting to, to build a fan following that was, you know, kind of rooting and cheering for you?

Yeah, there was a, there was a local, uh, local in Batesville.

They got an old Ford, uh, old Ford van and painted it orange and white and cut in a window, a number two window in it.

There we go.

[coughs] See, this is out of Batesville.

Uh, man arrested after allegedly arranging meeting with an undercover decoy.

Huh.

Batesville, Arkansas.

A 33-year-old Batesville man has been arrested after investigators say he attempted to meet someone he believed was a 14-year-old boy for sexual activity, activity.

According to court records, Ethan Alan Hamm was taken into custody on June 13th after arriving at a Comfort Suites h- hotel in Batesville where the meeting had been arranged.

Authorities say that the arrest followed a civilian sting operation conducted by the group A- ARPC.

Um, but was definitely not a guy where it's like, "Oh yeah, just slot him into that number two role and let's roll." Um, wound up of course evolving into this first round pick and this guy who was definitely by the end of the year Arkansas's best arm.

And the comparison on this year's roster is Mark Brissy who is also from Batesville, who is also wearing number 14 now and is also like a...

He's a little bit taller than Gage Wood but kind of that stocky build and just loves to pepper 98, 99 mile an hour fastballs at the top of the zone.

Now let me be very, very clear here 'cause I want to be careful 'cause I really don't want to put a ton on Mark Brissy's plate and kind of put this weight and this expectation on him.

And then we went to Darlington, and so we did two signings in Darlington as well.

And then we did, of course, like you said, that we did Batesville.

And the upcoming one, the big one, is, um, Oktoberfest at La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Mm.

[laughs]

But this is a great, this is a great Christmas gift, everybody, so, uh, get it for all your loved ones and, uh, and check it out.

Okay, Mark, uh, I wanna go home just for a little bit to Batesville, Arkansas.

Um, you just had a big signing there at the Mark Martin Ford dealership.

Kenny, anything else? What are you going to do this weekend?

Well, I was going to Batesville, Arkansas for a four-day IMCA race, which has been canceled because of weather.

Oh, my God.

I didn't

Like, At that point, I felt like a cheerleader to this property that I hope nobody ever actually saw.

And I would just say, I have this 2-1 in Batesville, right in the heart of town, walking distance to the chicken plant and right down the road from where all the development's happening on the historic Oak Street.

And it is 1,100 square foot.

It'll rent for 850 after we remodel it.
