Bass Player

Here is a bass supergroup consisting of Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten.

The three met in 2006 when Stanley Clarke was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Bass Player Magazine at a concert in New York.

They released one album together as SMB, entitled Thunder, and this one's called Hillbillies on a Quiet Afternoon.

And I picked up Guitar Player Magazine.

And in the back was the five-page insert of Bass Player Magazine.

And there's a picture of, you know, of Kubicki.

And I said, that's so cool.

You know what I mean? And so I, I always take that approach.

It's like, "Okay, how can I make this part walk to that part," or, "How could I make this part embrace the next part coming up and, and keep a steady flow going where I'm not stepping on anything?" And, you know, it didn't get me on the cover of Bass Player Magazine, but I don't care.

[laughs] I wanted, I wanted people to go, "Man, I love that bassline," and Q- Quicksand Jesus is o- one of my favorite basslines of mine.

Me too.

It's not a great impression, but it gets, you know, it gets stuck in your brain.

So, 2015, Bass Player Magazine asks Hugh McDonald, Hugh McDonald, not Alex John Such.

That's right.
