Bartmann jug

The containers were usually ordinary household vessels.

Many were stoneware jugs, including the distinctive Bellarmine or Bartmann bottles that were imported into England from continental Europe.

Some of the earliest examples of witch bottles were made with these strange bottles known as Bartmann jugs.

They're also called gray beards.
