Bartholin's gland

Again, typical location, bottom of the vaginal opening on either side, 5 o'clock, 7 o'clock, 4 o'clock, 8 o'clock, doesn't matter.

And the symptoms with a small Bartholin gland cyst might include nothing at all or a lump like we talked about, right? She's lump, she's lump, she's lump, she's in my crotch.

But usually it's painless.

It just, you can just sort of feel it.

And so even though that cancer in the gland is rare, the cyst could just be a cyst, right? Or it could be cancer.

And I like to remove it.

So again, the issue here is what does it look like and what is your age? So a mass in the Bartholin gland area and any woman age 40 or older, in my opinion, right, deserves for malignancy to be ruled out.

And I'm just not going to waste your time with a biopsy.

... uh, a while ago I had a vag cyst.

I have, I have had a Bartholin cyst, which is basically a golf ball-sized cyst inside me fangita-

... for about 18 months, two years, right?

But then what is super, super common and I see in every age group from my 20s to 40s is vestibulodynia.

So again, pain right at the opening of the vagina, especially at the 5 and 7 o'clock where the greater vestibular glands, aka Bartholins, and the Skeen's glands, aka minor vestibular glands, are touching those areas with a cotton Q-tip and making sure we're getting right at the hymenal edge.

If patients are having entry pain and they've had an exposure to birth control pills, Those are two of the main birth control pills, really decreases androgen effects to the vulva.

And the vulva actually has a bunch of dense androgen receptors as well as estrogen receptors.

So it definitely reduces obstetric, uh, anal sphincter injuries because it's directing the cut away.

But it can cause chronic lubrication issues of the vagina or painful Bartholin cysts.

So cut across-- You're cutting across dense muscle tissue.

So you see there's that extra layer and those deeper layers of muscles here if we're going out to the side here, um, and can cause profuse bleeding, longer repair times, extensive suturing, and it also significantly weakens the levator ani muscle group, which increases the predisposition to pelvic organ prolapse and/or urinary incontinence.
