it comes naturally to me uh i'll tell you how twisted i am if you haven't figured it out already but i showed you earlier before we got on camera that i have a prosthetic and my legs cut off and you can see it's a side hustle samurai so it's tax deductible But when I found out this was going to happen in 2023, it was about October.

Bart MerrellGUEST
After the shock and awe was over, I was like, okay, I don't like this, but it's got to happen.

Bart MerrellGUEST
So if it's going to happen, how can I monetize it? Six months post-op, I'm sitting in a appointment with my prosthetist.

What made you write this book? What was it that drove you to say, all right, this is the book I need to write?

my goal was to get in the fbi and chase serial killers that was my dream job from like age 16. and we had an ex-fbi agent friend that told me that the easiest way into the fbi was to go into accounting and then once you get in the fbi you can apply for the different jobs that are available And you will get the job that you're good at.

Bart MerrellGUEST
So if you're good at the other stuff, I wouldn't have to stay in the white collar area.

got it that makes sense we also mentioned preparation a lot as well like how can we start to develop that preparation mindset whatever is that what you do that you do in life like how to be prepared for these things to ultimately get the results that we actually want

I mentioned that anything that crosses my path, good, bad, or ugly, I always ask, how can I monetize it? And I've done that ever since I, we talked earlier about, I've done that ever since I didn't make it into my dream job, which was to get in the FBI and chase serial killers.

many options out there, how do you encourage people to pick a thing and stick with it? And how long? How long should someone stick with something before it's either validated as they can do it or that they like it or that they should move on to the next thing?

Bart MerrellGUEST
So when it comes to getting them to start and to pick their thing, a lot of times when I'm talking with them, I was talking with a guy, his name's Dave, and he was talking about, okay, I want to be in the digital marketing space.

Bart MerrellGUEST
With AI coming out, it is going to be a huge space, but still a shrinking space because you're not going to be needed as much.

Bart MerrellGUEST
You need to really niche down and figure out what it is that you can do that you like.

And then kind of process of elimination, right? Like, okay, so I really only have five good working hours in the daytime, right? What can I do with those five hours that can make me some sort of money? Okay, and then you run this against a list of like, what are things I'm good at? What are things I really hate? Or maybe even tell me if you agree, is it better to start with a list of things I'm really bad at and things I really don't like so I can just cross them off and not even come across them?

What are some other ones that you've come across or people that you've worked with in terms of everyday opportunities that maybe the layman would look at and not even consider there could be money made there? Do you have a few you could list off for us?

Bart MerrellGUEST
I adopted a nine month old, 90 pound Rottweiler that did not know the word no.

Bart MerrellGUEST
And I mean, I seriously, I could not leave him with my wife when we first got him because he wouldn't be attacking, but he was playful with his mouth.

Bart MerrellGUEST
So he was mouthy and he would leave bruises on her arms because he was so playful and he didn't know the word no or stop.
