Bart Layton

Give ourselves a little bit of a, yeah, just see what's going on.

But the 11 directors that voted for Some Like It Hot are Richard Ayer, Andrew Haig, Ahmed Jamal, Bart Layton, Mike Lee, Helen Petz, all from the U.K., Lone Scheffrig from Denmark.

Emma Seligman from USA.

Chris Shepard from UK.

From an analytical standpoint, this might be the most structurally impressive adaptation on the entire list.

Written and directed by Bart Layton, this film adapts a short novella by the legendary Don Winslow, originally published in his Broken collection.

The premise is pure, unadulterated, sweaty Los Angeles crime thriller.

It's a classic setup.

Because it's based on a novella.

Right.

Bart Layton took a compact, tightly written short novella, and he expanded it outward.

He used the novella not as a complete blueprint, but as the foundational scaffolding to build a massive, sprawling feature film.
