Barry Melrose

Um, really quickly before we get out of here, uh, do want to just two seconds.

Uh, Barry Melrose, who I know was an absolute icon, uh, in the hockey community, and we, myself, we-- everybody's feeling it right now.

Um, right? Like especially when kind of the heyday of ESPN and watching him, uh, do his thing on ESPN, and such an ambassador for the league, right? And the, uh, just like the iconic mullet and just seemed like one of the coolest dudes around, uh, the way he kind of carried himself.

And it's just the, the hockey world, hockey community lost, uh, a major figure yesterday, and, uh, I'm hope for-- or I guess for you two days ago by the time you hear this, but whatever.

Barry Melrose, the colorful former NHL player and coach who spent 27 years as an ESPN analyst, died Wednesday at the age of 70.

Melrose had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2023.

And some potentially good news for Seattle Seahawks fans.

All right, beauty this week, and it is the great Barry Melrose.

Gonna love you, eh? They're gonna be loving you from dawn until dusk.

Yeah, I mean, Barry passed away at the age of 70.

He would be a center still.

Did the Kings submit a statement on the passing of Barry Melrose yesterday or today, or is it just a gala statement? The Kings did put out a very lovely statement yesterday acknowledging the passing of Barry Melrose.

And also, um, I didn't really know much about him, uh, prior to him being a coach, but, uh, Barry, Barry Melrose, uh, NHL personality, um, uh, he you know he was always fun to listen to and he always had like the long hair kind of slipped back and you guys would know him if you saw him um he he did i remember

He was so awesome.

But ended up having a long career.

And then to answer your question, I just knew it was time and Barry Melrose, God rest his soul, came in and he said to me, "We, we, we, we can use you, but we have another kid, Warren Rychel, coming in." I said, "Well, he's not a heavyw- whatever." He says, "Well, you know," he says, "We can trade you back to Boston if you'd like to go.

They want you." And I said, "You know what? That'd be great," but To- uh, Harry Sinden didn't want to double dip, and anybody in the NHL knows what double dipping is.
