Barney Martin

But that was the, that was what made it so wonderful, too, because you, you know, if he couldn't remember his lines, you never knew what was gonna come out.

Uh, I worked with an actor named Barney Martin, who was also on Seinfeld.

Uh-

Oh, yeah.

Jerry's dad

...

Barney Martin, I think played Jerry's dad-

Mm-hmm

Lovely.

And then next we go to Funny Honey, which this is, you know, w- we heard from Chita primarily in the first song, and now we hear pretty much exclusively from Gwen Verdon with, um, Barney Martin as her husband coming in a little bit here with some talking.

Gwen Verdon always had a unique voice, but this, it's kind of exaggerating.

You know, like a lot of big Broadway talents, Bernadette, Patty, they have isms that get exaggerated as they get older.

I know, I know you bought the toy.

And she's up there munching on goddamn bonbons and jazzing.

It did blow my mind when I learned [laughs] that Barney Martin was the original Amos, 'cause I knew him from Seinfeld.

And to think of Jerry's dad as a Broadway actor in a musical is still kind of funny to me.
