So I went by myself and oh my goodness, 2022 was epic because not only was I going to Aftershock, I was going to a total of 16 concerts, including two nights at Aftershock.

Now that week in particular was intense because on Tuesday I saw Ms. Suga in San Francisco, on Wednesday I saw the Black Keys and Band of Horses in Mountain View, and then on Thursday I went to Aftershock And saw Evanescence.

They were good.

Who else did I see? What is it? You know, the original lead singer of the Misfits.

The influence of punk on grunge has had ripple effects into the present day.

Modern Seattle acts like Band of Horses and The Walkmen cite Melvins and Black Flag as major inspirations for their own lo-fi aesthetics.

Similarly, contemporary indie labels like Sub Pop continue to champion DIY ethics through limited releases, touring, and community events, showcasing how punk's organizational principles endure in the digital age.

Meanwhile, the legacy of early Seattle shows in VFW halls and warehouse clubs paved the way for current all-ages festivals that keep the sense of community alive.

But some people are still doing that, I know.

Well, you have a very long history with Sub Pop Records, which goes back to your time playing in Band of Horses, and they released a couple of your early releases.

I know that they are thrilled to be involved with this new record.

It feels like you're surrounded by longtime friends just all the way around.
