Baltra Island

The Galapagos are located 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador so yes you do need to fly to get there.

Now there are two options for flying into the Galapagos Islands and that would be Baltra which is located right next to an island called Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz is the most populated island and kind of the biggest tourist hub.

The other option is San Cristobal which is a smaller less populated island.

And we flew back to Quito out of San Cristobal.

So I made two separate bookings, two one-way flights.

So I did a one-way flight from Quito to Santa Cruz, and then I did, or Baltra is the name of the airport, and then I did a one-way flight from San Cristobal to Quito.

Booked those both on Avianca.

You can go on the small boat.

Uh, most everybody'll fly into, uh, Baltra on Santa Cruz Island.

Let me tell you one thing about Baltra.

This is very interesting.

During World War II, we had a problem with the Japanese, and the Panama Canal had been open for quite a few years, and they were dreading that this could happen, so they planted a base there, the United States, the Air Force.
