Ballina

Again, tonight we referenced the football element and the advantages maybe that the football element brings to Hurling teams.

And Ballina probably have that too from playing senior football.

Quite a few of those guys there in the Ballina Hurling team have been playing with the senior footballers as well.

And the energy, there's plenty of running in the legs and all that.

You'd have to feel for temporary.

There's a few other things.

There's art on the bridge there, the bridge in Kiddaloo, Ballina.

That will be over on Saturday the 12th.

That was on this Saturday.

And indeed, over as well was the artist's exhibition in St. Flannans in the same place.

So it was a weekend full of art down in Kiddaloo, Ballina.

Yes.

There's a recycling East Clare community co-op are looking for to donate their returnable bottles and cans.

If they're ready to go, they'll be hard to beat.

And with Ballina, I suppose they've been able to have full focus on Hurling the last few weeks after being eliminated from football.

And I think North champions last year, just the calibre they are.

And then you go to this year's North champions in Silvermines, like they were...

Golan being impressive, like we said earlier, 325 they scored against Airog, and the character got 125.

Another game, that group, Borland came out on top, 316 to 212 to Ballina.

So that left that group then with Golan top, three from three, Borland well at second, Airog were into primary quarter finals on behalf of Winda West, and Ballina are into relegation there.

So all the teams are can they still go in this group there? But Golden, they're moving well.

We said they're scoring free-flowing and they got three wins from three, topped the group and it's the way that can be qualifying.

Yeah, they're moving well and possibly the team that we would have tipped at the start of the year if they found their form to do that.

I saw the, I was at the Borlachan versus Ballina game, final game of Hurling 2 and they kind of turned really on the dismissal of one of the Ballina cornerbacks Patrick O'Donovan it was a big loss to them and that happened maybe around the 10 or 11 minute mark so they were a long time without the 15 players you know but for all that ball that produced a really really good performance they really dug into Borlahan and it was only kind of in the concluding stages that Borlahan pulled away from them really like with 10 minutes to go it was level and Borlahan just finished that little bit stronger with Shane Mildahey coming on again and working the article for them, you know.

And

Artvinen, as you probably know, won by three points, 1.13 to 1.10.

But Ballina gave everybody as good as they got and had a couple of goal chances that Keanu Mahoney and the Artvinen goal made a few good saves.

It came down to very fine margins at the finish.

Ballina had an early goal.

after 14 minutes from one point there were 1, 2 to 3 points up just at that stage but Gerry Cronin on 23 minutes who actually had an excellent game for Art Finnan his fielding was worth watching he got a goal for Art Finnan on the 23rd minute and they led 1-7 to 1-6 at half time to as tight as that the second half was no different Art Finnan got a bit of a run where they got three points on the trot from Michael Barlow, Michael Barlow 2 and James Murphy, and they went 1.12 to 1.9 ahead with eight minutes to go.

They lost the man then, Jack O'Neill, to a red card, so they were under pressure at the finish, and they held out tough.

Ballina had a chance at the very end, Free and Stephen O'Brien had a blast for a goal, but they were never going to get the goal after 14 yards free.

It was a penalty they wanted, but they hadn't time to go for a point.

Yeah.
