Bakkies Botha

But there's 32 very good South African players who have won gold medals, who have won a star.

Bakkies Botha and Bryan Habana, lock and, and, uh, wing were picked by the fans on the EPCR.

At that competition went on for six months.

Hundreds of thousands voted.

I was with RG Snyman there last week.

Um, he's, he's a giant of a man, and there was a question posed from the audience about, you know, the physicality of today's game and how, you know, uh, from, from years ago, how, what, what's the difference? And I was like, I'm pretty sure that the beast, John Smit, Bakkies Botha, Victor Matfield, Juan Smith, Schalk Burger, Pierre Spies, um, all these guys would mix it with Etzebeth and

andRG's naming, I'm pretty sure.

And then RG turned around and said, "Yeah, but it was different back then.

Did you find when you were captain you had to dial it back a bit? Not really.

Uh, I mean, I was never a Bakkies Botha or [chuckles] any of those type of locks that really, uh, could have said I was the enforcer.

I was more just a jumper giving the ball away.

Um, but no, I think captaincy doesn't really make a difference.

I no- I normally ask you what your clip drift moment of the game is, and, and, and we haven't really had a game.

So, um, what's your clip drift moment away from the game, Victor? Well, ja, I had a great time.

Like I said, I even played a round of golf with, uh, Mr. Bakkies Botha, Makumbo.

Uh, that was pretty special.
