Bakeneko

The different poses that the medicine seller makes and motions that he makes are sometimes drawn from Kabuki.

The last arc of Ayakashi is about the Bakeneko, which is like a goblin cat.

Aren't all cats part goblin?

I mean, kind of, yeah.

And so, like I said, one of the suitors is missing, and obviously nothing good is behind that.

And so the medicine seller steps in for the fourth competitor who is missing, and we begin to understand things about exactly why they want to marry this woman.

The fifth arc is yet again a Bakeneko, but a different one.

But it is interesting that they circle back around to the Bakeneko again.

There's just like a whole Hong Kong underground thing.

And then Japan, they have the Bakuneko series and everything.

It's just so fascinating.

I love black cats.
