Bakassi

Mm-hmm.

On October 10, 2002, the International Court of Justice ruled that the Bakassi Peninsula belonged to Cameroon, not Nigeria-

Yeah

... basing its decision on colonial-era treaties between Britain and Germany.

The judgment ended eight years of legal proceedings, but ignited anger in Nigeria, where many saw Bakassi's people as Nigerian and rejected the ruling.

Nigeria initially resisted compliance, citing the rights of the local population, but mounting international pressure led to the 2006 Green Tree Agreement, signed by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

And guess who?

Yeah.
