Badger Conference

Madison Memorial, obviously, out of the Big Eight conference.

Beaver Dam in the very tough Badger Large.

This is an interesting matchup for Summer Salcido's squad because you look at Memorial's record, and obviously it's pretty good, but then you look at who they played, and they have played many similar schools that Beaver Dam has played, and they've been all close matches as well.

So, uh, this is gonna be an interesting one to watch on Thursday night for, for the Beavers.

Well, let's just move to Friday then now.

A huge one.

For the first time since 2011, Beaver Dam High School, the Badger Small Conference champs, are hosting a playoff game.

They got Brookfield Central.

Mm-hmm

... really suffered being in the Badger Conference.

They finally got out of it.

They got to the Capital.

It does play very much a factor.

You know, the Badger Conference being one of the, I would say, one of the better conferences in the state because you have Oregon, you have Wanakee and DeForest and Monona Grove who are top teams in the conference.

So, Coach, what does it mean to have a game on this pitch here, to have a home game when you get to the postseason, not have to worry about traveling and making a long bus ride?

Yeah, luckily for us, we lucked out because Tomo had to come to us.

Yeah, looking at some of the, the comparable scores and such, uh, and, you know, Madison Memorial's got a pretty good record.

So, you know, uh, the Badger Conference, I would think in girls' volleyball is, is a little bit stronger than in the Big Eight, but they're both great leagues.

Mm-hmm.

And, uh, I'm talking about top to bottom.

And then we came back, went undefeated, and then won state again.

And but he won something like, I don't know the exact number, but 14 straight Badger Conference titles.

Yeah.

And I don't, and, and you went to Whitewater, and even the whole Whitewater Mount Union thing, just how many times, like, just in athletics, I don't care what division it is or anything, it is insane when you get around a group like that.

Our favorite golden retriever coach, Tyler Rawls, has DeForest in a very good trajectory it looks like right now.

Yeah, Tyler, one of the good guys in the sport, right? And, uh, did a great job hosting the Badger Conference Tournament we went and broadcasted two years ago.

Had a good time with him.

One heck of a hospitality room that DeForest, uh, squad puts on.

There were, I was checking through different dual- duals.

I was perusing through, and I think, uh, uh, they had full squads throughout the year, so I, different duals.

That, that whole Badger Conference is fun to watch and compare scores 'cause you'll see one team beat this team, and that team beats the other team, and, uh, trying to get a hold of as far as who's, who's the best team coming out of that one, uh, um, they, most of the programs I really do think try to Build up for postseason.

You know, they might drop a dual here and there, and if they lose it, they're not-- Obviously, they wanna win it, but they're not gonna be, you know, um, shell-shocked by it or, or it's gonna be a downer for them.

It's a great rivalry.

They used to be in the Badger Conference.

It was like 70-7.

Ugly game there.
