Bad Wolf

In at number two, I've got the parting of the ways.

Obviously teamed up with Bad Wolf as a two-parter.

And I remember when I got to the end of Eccleston's run, I was feeling all sorts of emotions like I knew this was a regeneration story.

That's exciting.

I was kind of pissed off that Eccleston had seemingly thrown in the role after one season like this.

my god you know does he not value the role how could he do that the full story hadn't come out at that time so I was feeling excited I was feeling pissed off I saw the first episode it was great and going into the second episode and all the stuff that happened and Rose becoming the bad wolf and Jack's resurrection and oh my god then the regeneration it was just brilliant it still is brilliant I still love looking at it and finally Dave in at number one

I'm anticipating this, Rob.

You know, you don't have to show a Dalek, you just put a moan, a moan, a moan.

It was Bad Wolf, wasn't it?

Yeah.

You heard the heartbeat before you saw the Dalek.

The moment I realized they were doppelgangers, I knew exactly how the episode was going to play out, and it did just that.

But at least Wolf was in it.

I could definitely see people being annoyed by Wild Beyond considering all the hype going into it.

And in a sense, like they kind of stabbed themselves in the foot with that because, you know, Russell was saying we're not going to show any footage from it.

Makes sense.

Like, Larry Moffat said in the interview, he was like, I didn't even know who the hybrid was.

It's like, well, then why'd you do it then, bro? Like, I guess because, like, stuff like Bad Wolf and Torture kind of set this, like, standard that you have to do, like, an overarching plot for the whole series, which makes, that's just TV, I guess.

Yeah, I like it.

It is such an imaginative and beautifully conceived thing that John Dorney has written that I really want to sort of... dangle it under the nose, metaphorically, of our podcast listeners.

You know, I like to take a leaf out of Russell T. Davis's book from his first series of Doctor Who, where he had a decision to make at the end of, oh, I can't remember which story it was, but to throw forward to the episode Bad Wolf, of course, which ended with a cliffhanger of there being loads and loads of Daleks.

Now, that doesn't happen until the end of the episode, right? But he chose, quite rightly, for the trailer to be absolutely plastered with Daleks.

So everyone knew the Daleks were coming back.
