This project ticked the box of him finding that, ticked the box of the charity, ticked the box of, like, everybody that's been able to leverage off the back of it, whether that's Backyard Ultra, you know, event organisers where now everyone's searching Backyard Ultras and where they can do one, including me who's doing one in two weeks with no training.

So, and I'm pretty keen for that, Pato, let me tell

you.

I'm a hundred percent sure he'll be there he absolutely froths backyards

I know man and that's and that's what I love about like a kind of I spent a lot of time in High Rocks when it first come out because long story I tried to get the rights for High Rocks about six years ago but got introduced to Matt who ended up working for the company who bought it in in Singapore I think and And so anyway, so I've been in and around that from the start.

And Backyard Ultra kind of gives me the same vibes as High Rocks because it kind of puts a sport element into, like, because everyone talks about the PB.

Like, if you see a Backyard Ultra runner, you go, what's your PB? Yeah.

Um, you know, and Johnny Orr was one of the best space cadets you could ever meet.

He'd pull into 10-foot tubes at fucking Inside Sunset on a 5'2", nose channels, shaped by himself, and just- He was the guy that when we- it was a flat day, we, we jumped in at Backyards, went out through, like, the lava.

There's a, like a lava, um, uh, what, what do you call it? In between the coral reefs, there's, there's a section that you can kind of get out past the reef.

Um, so yeah, so it's between reefs, and it's only a meter wide.

And, like, when they were still on the bus, they were looking out the window, you know, and they couldn't open it, but you know how they look out.

"Oh, look, look, look, look." And they came out and got all photos and, and then we went.

We had this big barbecue out at Backyards and yeah, uh, seen them all.

But yeah, great days back in the-

We, we've got a lot of questions for you, and, and you're gonna educate Holly and myself and all of our listeners, and I'll start with this.

You started with a very small backyard garden, and now you're at 52 acres, uh, uh, farms, farm homestead.

Was that the goal starting with this or what...

Did the small garden kinda inspire you that you'd wanted something bigger? How'd that all begin?

And at the time, we were living on about a third of an acre.

Eventually, we were able to buy the lot next door to us, and then we built a much larger garden, and that was around 3,000 square feet.

And it was around that time I set a goal to grow all of the vegetables that our family would need for an entire year from that backyard garden that was 3,000 square feet.

So that experience, it completely changed the way we ate and we cooked, and we just fell in love with eating foods that are in season and fresh.
