Babylon

Many of you may recall that I have recently had on a number of occasions, my friend Chris Brawns.

Chris Brawns is a wonderful brother in Christ, a very wonderful theologically astute brother, and we have had Chris on multiple occasions, actually spanning a couple of decades, because I first had Chris Bonds on the program back in the early days of Iron Sharpens Iron Radio when I was broadcasting the show out of WNYG Radio in Babylon, Long Island, But I more recently had Chris on the program, March 17th and the 25th of this year, to discuss not only his most recent book, The Way of Repentance, but also his more well-known classic work on forgiveness, Unpacking Forgiveness, Biblical Answers for Complex Questions and and deep wounds.

Well, it caught my attention in social media that Chris was giving glowing, enthusiastic endorsements for the book we are addressing today, Counterfeit Forgiveness, how a modern myth betrays victims, protects abusers, and corrupts the gospel.

And I'm thrilled to have on the program for the first time, the author of that book, T.C. Cannon.

Sorry if you've already said this, but I was wondering if you were influenced in the writing of your own book by the late Jay Adams, who wrote a book on a similar subject.

Yeah, that's actually how I became personally introduced to this concept of forgiveness back in the 1980s, I think it was.

And I had Dr. Adams on my program to discuss that book, which is From Forgiven to Forgiving, sometime in the early 2000s when we were broadcasting it at WNYG Radio in Babylon, Long Island.

But so did Dr. Adams work that will influence you?

Rodney Dangerfield was born as Jacob Cohen in 1921 in Babylon, Long Island.

His father was a Vaudeville comedian who was essentially never home.

Dad performed, traveled, absent in the way that show business fathers of that era were often absent, which is to say thoroughly and without apology.

In 2022, the town of Babylon, which is just the sprawling waterfront township in southern Suffolk County.

severed its contract entirely with the North Amityville Fire Company after an investigation uncovered what officials called a culture of misconduct at the fire company, including misuse of funds, sexual harassment, and physical altercation serious enough that police had to call in to break up the Amityville Fire Company's meetings.

Perhaps the most unsettling Amityville area crime of all happened in the spring of 2024 when human remains were discovered in Southern Pond Park and later at Bethpage State Park, both not far from Amityville.
