And like the, when they talk about baby Diego, they talk about that guy's life is so tough because people think of him as like a miracle because he's the youngest person alive.

Did it kind of sound like baby Diego had rancid vibes? What might have been the reason behind this, and how might it link up to Alex, the gamer son of Nigel we talked about earlier?

yeah I mean it was it made me think of the COVID generation of kids like it's one thing to be adults in the end times but to be a child in the end times is just like seems so difficult and the fact that this guy had to for his whole life be baby Diego obviously ruined him.

And then, like...

the most important detail i think that's established very early is like the um like absolute like wanton disregard for like crazy shit happening like the the The movie opens to the news that Baby Diego was brutally murdered by a mob, and people are weeping in the streets about this.

As we follow Theo, kind of going through his morning routine, and as he's walking down the street, a bomb goes off behind him.

he like, you know, reacts to it and then it cuts to him walking into work.

Like, yeah, that

tells his boss, Hey, I'm going to go work from home.

Uh, because baby Diego was like hitting me a little bit harder than I thought it would.

Not that the bomb killed him, but that, you know, this child on the other side of the planet or teenager on the other side of the planet, you know, died.

So, you know, the youngest person on the planet is 18 years old.

Baby Diego.

Yeah, baby Diego.

Killed.

Killed in 2007, or 27 rather, for not signing an autograph.

As soon as that guy gives them the sneakers, you're like, all right, they're cool.

Yeah.

Baby Diego was stabbed outside a bar after refusing to sign an autograph.

And so I loved how kind of this film starts, even though it's quite depressing.

But it sets up immediately what this world is about and where the world is, is kind of mourning the death of baby Diego Ricardo.

you know, all these people are kind of staring at this TV set in a cafe in London about his death and one woman is basically crying in front of everyone.

And immediately you're thinking that this is quite significant about the state of the world, but you also get kind of the state of mind of Clive Owen's character, Theo, and that he's just kind of disconnected from the world and he's just kind of passing through all these people in this scene, you know, when they're trying to when he's buying his coffee and, and, and they're all kind of not looking and he's not looking at the TV set like everyone else is, but he's not like, but he's not like completely disconnected as he reacts dramatically like anyone would when the cafe blows up.

But I think that, like you said, this opening like immediately like grips you.

And like, I think that's just a great way to get an exposition of just having a BBC news broadcast.

That's just like baby Diego, who is 18 years old.

He's not a baby anymore, but he's the youngest person in the world.

But he's disinterested in the news, just wants a black coffee.

We found out Baby Diego was 18 years, 4 months, 20 days, 16 hours, and 8 minutes.

But who's counting? So he struggled all his life with his celebrity status.

And I'm like, I wonder who the next record holder is then at this point.

ahead and do this because people would be pretty scared i think at that time yeah yeah um we get the children of men title card and the rain in the years which is going to be a thing continues as theo walks into work so we hear his hearing i think it's a fun thing when movies do that And everyone's watching footage of baby Diego and weeping.

And the youngest woman's now, sorry, the youngest human's now a woman.

But one other.

So at the beginning of the movie, they mentioned that baby Diego, who's 18, was killed.

And I just thought that, you know, this is so symbolic for what this movie's approach to this kind of story.

It's like it's.

Yeah, they have.

Everything is just kind of like, well, we haven't talked about the Michael Caine character, who's an interesting part of this, but he does have this scene where he talks about faith and chance.

And you feel like this movie is kind of revolving around those ideas of just, it seems like there's just random chance things that happen for no reason, where you would say, why did the youngest kid on earth, baby Diego, why did he die that way? What is the bigger purpose of it all? What is the meaning of it all? And the sense that the movie gives you is like, there is none.

This is just all senseless acts.
