Baba Is You

I'll follow that up briefly with a review of Land and Freedom, colon, The Spanish Revolution and Civil War.

And then Nealon is back with Baba is You, colon, The Board Game.

So this is a big episode for power couples, big episode for colon games.

We've got some themes we've established early on.

So yeah, if you're a fan of historical themed games or semi-co-op games and you aren't turned off by the historical setting, I definitely would recommend this, especially if you have a group of three players.

You can use bots if you're going to play the solo or two player, but if you have three players who are into semi-co-ops or are into coin-esque games or like war games, definitely very easy to recommend trying out Land and Freedom, again by Alex Knight and Blue Panther Games.

That is correct.

But if you like video games, but you also like doing things in person...

What could be better than a video game making the move to the physical realm? This is a board game for the game Baba Is You.

There's also a sort of secondary thing, a deck building game for Party House.

I had actually never heard of that one before.

I'm mostly here for the Baba Is You bit.

But what we're generally looking at here is a board It's a small, reasonable-sized board, probably 11-12 inches by 12 inches when all folded out.

Baba Is You the game is a puzzle game, and so this board game winds up being kind of a puzzle board game.

You may have gotten a notification that I backed the Baba is You project.

i was actually not backing baba is you i think it looks really cool and i enjoy the video game i think it's neat that they did something with with the tabletop version and the components are very cute but i was more interested in the other game they released and now i'm blanking on what it's called but there's two games in this kickstarter the baba azu kickstarter and it's the other one that i backed i backed Party House, the deck building game.

I've heard great things about the digital version of Party House and the deck building game is deck building with a little bit of push your luck, which I do really enjoy.

And so that's what I'm backing right now.

Anachronism mentions, uh, again, that isn't live yet.

Oh, yeah, the, the Baba Is You, um, tabletop implementation.

This is a digital game, Baba Is You, which is very clever.

I'm curious to see how they implement it on the tabletop too.

I could see that working as a, as a ta- as a cooperative game really, really well.

[laughs] The other obligatory mention on this, on this podcast.

Um- I, the only two games I've really, really, really gotten into in the last 10 years has been Baba Is You and Balatro.

Baba Is You is a puzzle game with crafted puzzles.

I used to print Sudoku books.

A Sudoku, in the way that I'm using it, is a handcrafted puzzle.

They're beautiful, they're wonderful, they are not replayable.

[laughs] They are one shot.

Baba Is You has 231 levels or something like that.

That's a good one.

I'm going to shout out friend of the show, Peter C. Hayward, and give his new design, Baba Is You, credit.

Because that's what this video game is, let alone the board game.

I think he's going to adapt that very smartly from what I've seen.

And I think that... running that sort of obstacle course is going to tickle people's brains in the right way.

So I'm going to shout out Peter C Hayward's design.

Baba is you for challenge as a type of fun.

That sounds so weird.

Otherwise, I would have been like, ooh, I still play it every now and then just to guess and my formula still works.

For me, I think, you know, we mentioned it briefly earlier, but there was a very well-created word puzzle game by the name of Baba Is You that was just so profoundly well-developed and put together and interesting.

And the idea behind this game is, you know, it's a pixel game.

It's a very basic... at appearance level, but what you're doing is you are pushing letters and words around to form sentences that then create things within the game that allow progression.

Oh, yeah.

Baba is You.

Remember that? Baba is You is another great example.

Great one.

And then there are also games like Celeste, where it's just like, that's an absolute titan now.
