What does it mean for a company to have a narrative operating system, and how can storytelling influence with, uh, with those different parts, uh, of a business?
40:35
Yeah.
40:35
Th- this is, this is a really important question, especially in this day and time.
40:39
A- historically, storytelling for business has been associated with communications, with messaging, with marketing, right? And I get that, but this kind of goes against everything that we've been saying today, 'cause we, we, yes, it's good for that, but this again is thinking of, like, how we talk about ourselves or our products and our services.
40:58
But as I've already illustrated hopefully today, storytelling is about listening, is about input more than the output.
41:05
And we've also talked about how stories are how we connect and communicate as humans.
41:10
So now let's think about all of the touch points in a business, whole, like the entire ecosystem, right? All of the touch points and engagements points between two humans or more that are connecting and communicating.
45:14
What's one storytelling technique from your book or, or from your knowledge, technique, practical habit, something that they can start using today immediately to become a more engaging and, um, memorable, confident communicator?
15:16
Clayton still with Microsoft? Is he still
15:18
there? I think he is, or he might have left, but his role has changed.
15:23
But he's on LinkedIn a lot.
15:24
He's always posting stuff.
15:26
So he was definitely one of the first as well.
15:28
But the very first time I... maybe not the first time I heard that title, but the first time I talked to somebody was with Nelson and he was telling me about the early, and he had been there for 50 years.
15:38
So he was telling me about the early, early days of Nike in the 70s when they were blue ribbon sports.

well said again mr rain a cso is not just a better marketer you are talking about a leadership role what does a cso do on tuesday morning that a cmo or head of a brand would never think to do and why does a tuesday morning task create a more long-term value than any campaign
8:18
Mm hmm.
8:18
Mm hmm.
8:19
So the way I like to phrase it is the CSO has a seat at the table of every department.
8:28
It doesn't mean they're at the head of that table.
8:30
So let's think about product.
8:32
The CSO is not telling product what to do.

What's a story you tried to tell for years and finally realized was not yours to tell? And how did you make a peace with letting go?
