B'nai B'rith

Books dealing specifically with Freud's Jewishness, such as Mo- uh, Moishe Greaser, Dual Allegiance: Freud as a Modern Jew, Sunny Press 1994, can rely on several statements made by Freud himself, either in private correspondence or in J- or in Jewish environment.

In the preface for the Hebrew translation of Totem and Taboo, for example, asking himself rhetorically, what is Jewish in his work, Freud answered, "A very great deal, and probably its very essence." In a speech prepared for delivery at the B'nai B'rith Lodge in Vienna in 1926, Freud explained his motivation for joining 30 years earlier, in 1897.

Quoting, "Whenever I have experienced feelings of national exultation, I have tried to suppress them as disastrous and unfair, frightened by the warning example of those nations among which we Jews live.

But there remained enough to make the attraction of Judaism and the Jews irresistible.

Is, is, is he...

Would we say that his theorizing, the universalizing of his theory is a way to whitewash particular, particularly Jewish dysfunction? Is it a way to help integrate Jews into Gentile society by saying, "Well, all of this expressly Jewish, uh, dysfunction is actually sort of a universal human tendency"? Uh, I don't know, but that sentence, "So I became one of you," [chuckles] is, uh, very telling to me.

Well, what I think is interesting here is that he says that he joined the B'nai B'rith in 1897, which is, uh, I believe it says the year his father died.

Um, I believe it says that earlier in the, uh, in the article.

There's one of these accusations against Malachi Martin that I always found laughable.

They say he was a servant of B'nai B'rith,

of the

elder brothers, so-called elder brothers of the faith.

Exactly.

Well, no, he was the president of the B'nai B'rith, like the secret society – not secret, but it's a Jewish community down – he was the president at 29, okay? He was a reform Jew.

He had a rabbi, Rabbi Marx.

He didn't believe in anything, so –

And ADL is kind of what spurred some of this.

And there are a lot of ones that are still pushing the propaganda.

What's important also about this is that the B'nai B'rith that he was a president of, that's where the ADL specifically came from.

So the birth of a nation and the birth of the ADL all kind of at the same time.

Malachy Martin is a double agent.

He was being paid by the B'nai B'rith and by the American Jewish Committee to change the document called Nostra Aetate.

And the goal was to get the Catholic Church to say the Jews did not kill Christ.

That was the goal.

And, you know, the other part of this Watergate story is in its simplest form, the two guys that are presented as the heroes really represent the two most significant neocon factions, which is Bernstein is a Zionist.

As I understand it, he was in like B'nai B'rith youth program, which is, you know, like a youth organization to indoctrinate kids to a very right-wing kind of Nazified idea of blood and soil in the Holy Land for God's chosen people.

And, you know, maybe you have to exterminate some Untermenschen as well, right? It's a strange thing.

And then the other part is Woodward, who is tied to these right-wing anti-detente military officers who had hated Nixon and Kissinger and hated detente, as I say.

44% of the incidents took place in public areas, such as public schools or hu- or office buildings.

B'nai B'rith Canada's League for Human Rights, the Canadian equivalent of the ADL, also reported a decline in anti-Semitic incidents in its 1992 audit.

A total of 196 incidents occurred nationwide in 1992, one per 196,000 Canadians, down 22% from 1991.

Half of them occurred in Toronto, which has the largest Jewish population in Canada.
