B.M.C. Durfee High School

Miscellaneous request to make Ray Street at Wiedemau a four-way stop.

This is up around Durfee High School.

Due to this intersection being high traffic area, due to both the high school and elementary school in the area.

And that was requested by a city resident.

And the DCAM is the group that oversees the design regulations to this.

And so when you get a project like a brand new Durfee High School, they went through a programming situation where they actually created an interior park for their kindergarten groups.

And so they could actually do daycare there.

They also did one for outdoor amphitheater where you could do outdoor indoor outdoor learning space.

Next, we'll ask Brian Miranda to come up.

Excuse me, Alex is a Florida native who grew up in the city, graduating from Durfee High School.

His education, he went to Bristol Community College after that in social behavior science.

After working in metal fabrication, Alex transitioned into the wastewater in 2002.

I know that was going to be a highlight of the video presentation, so I just wanted to share that.

32 years of service to the district and a proud graduate of even Durfee, so thank you.

So let me start with, these past five weeks has certainly been very busy.

And one of the things I've really enjoyed is the opportunity to get out into our schools.

So looking at open houses, speaking of visiting our schools, families have also had the opportunity to visit our schools through our fall open houses.

Open houses gives families a chance to visit their child's classroom, meet their teachers, learn more about what makes their school community special.

We have a short montage from FredTV highlighting some of those events at Fonseca Green, Sylvia, Spencer Borden, Talbot, and Durfee.

During Durfee's open house, it was especially interactive this year.

Antoine, maybe Providence shouldn't be a liberal third world shithole.

Antoine, a Durfee High School product from the Boston area was stabbed in the chest and pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

Macy, a 19, suffered non-life-threatening wounds to the head, neck, and arm.

Police say as he fled, flock license cameras actually got him.
