Or we'd have to go to Mississippi, Jackson, to hear BB King, you know, and so forth, and you name it.

And, um, because not only just hearing them live do their thing, it becomes much more of a personal experience.

Mm-hmm.

Many recorded it in the years between, including the Harlem Ham Fats, Washboard Sam, and Blind Boy Fuller.

Now, before that, we heard a couple of electric blues numbers by two of the giants of the genre, B.B. King and Muddy Waters.

We heard B.B.' 's Walkin' Dr.

Bill, also known as Gotta Find My Baby, from 1960, and another with an interesting history having been written by bluesman Dr. Clayton in 1941 and first covered by B.B. in 1952.

And from as far back as 1955, we heard McKinley Morganfield, better known to us as Muddy Waters.

And a classic number in the Muddy Waters universe, Young Fashion Ways.

So

I worked at Universal Studios at the time.

And there was a restaurant right across the way from BB King.

And I said, BB King.

And I can tell you, you could hear the audience go, and then I was like, oh, shit.

And that was it.

Had to go and see it, of course.

U2 were coming up the tunnel in Detroit for a show with BB King.
