Veep, he was handed Veep after trying to make a version of this show for ABC that was canceled.

But then also the fantastic, uh, Avenue 5 with, uh, Hugh Laurie as the captain of a space cruise ship.

Delightful, canceled too soon, also on HBO.

A lot of weird going on with the Nuich.

I never saw The Thick Of It.

I never watched Veep.

Uh, Avenue 5 I don't think I'd even heard of.

[laughs] So I'm, I'm pretty bad when it comes to really kind of the full breadth of what, uh, of what he's kind of worked on.

Okay, on the fun side though, like how many fictional settlements should logically be using something like this and just don't because it's too gross to write about it?

Well, in the show Avenue 5, they used human waste as a radiation shield because it's mostly water and water is really good at radiation shielding.

it's also a great show it ends on a cliffhanger but it's the most stressful comedy I've ever seen I

mean it's also interesting everyone's an idiot it's also interesting you mention that because June recycles bodily fluids and we don't really hear anything about solid waste coming up in sci-fi world building that's just a blind spot or just nobody wants to write that scene? both

I'll start.

to wrap things up as we're getting close to the hour mark but before I ask what's ahead and look really deep into your eyes to see if there's anything that you're hiding I want to talk briefly about Avenue 5 because I absolutely loved it and kind of everything Armando Iannucci does it's again it must have been exciting to be involved in did that kind of come I know you mentioned earlier that on Damned that there was a few of the writers from the thick of it and stuff like that did that kind of come naturally in that In that way.

It did, I think, in the sense that that's probably why I was, again, on that radar, I think.

And actually, Will, I remember me and Will were briefly working on a kind of pilot idea together two, three years ago now.

It's being portrayed on the media more and more in the last few years.

Even the current show, there's a show that started a couple weeks ago called Avenue 5, a science fiction comedy show, where actually they show the captain of the ship talking to two people using something like Skype.

And the person on Earth says, oh, look, our husband is in space.

And then the camera pans to show a picture of three of them together.
