Councilors Robinson, Council of Dakota had viewed such a session themselves with the Flock Company and came away with it.

I'll paraphrase here, and I know I get in trouble when I paraphrase what the counselors say, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but they basically said a lot of misconceptions about what the technology is and what it isn't were cleared up.

Has anybody in Massachusetts? We hear stories about red light cameras and whatnot in other parts of the world, other communities, but at least here, the ALPRs are not used for traffic citations and whatnot.

I mean, that was something that was written up many years ago in many states.

After that was over, I got an opportunity to shake his hand and talk to him one on one and look in his eyes.

They get new vehicles.

They get ALPR cameras on every city.

He's just a regular guy that has a platform that likes to talk about technology.

And he got the police to visit him because he had the audacity to test a cheap ALPR camera that he purchased off Amazon and do to them what they've been doing to us without our approval.

If you look at dflog.org, they have a nice map, hundreds of thousands of cameras have been identified, but you look at the Canada portion, there's zero.

because flock is not being used in Canada.

They're using different companies like Genetec, like Axon, which in my opinion are even worse than flock safety cameras because Axon create also has a product that police uses that is the AI ready facial recognition body cams and their ALPR cameras do not require at least one of their models does not require solar panels.

They connect directly into the light posts, making them even harder to recognize.

We all hate them, except for law enforcement seems to go, guys, look, this is like having a police officer on every corner or not every corner.

But wherever there's an ALPR, it's like having a police officer on patrol watching out and watching your back.

Talk about some of the things you've learned about ALPRs and the future of them in southern Utah.

Are we going to get more of them? Are we going to get less of them? Where are we at with it?

You know, I probably ought to start with this.

because of their supposed inexperience, and I don't think that's right at all.

I have taken real issue with the way that he has spoken about some of his constituents, even a couple of weeks ago when he disregarded and dismissed some of their comments about the ALPR cameras.

That's wrong.

Having your community engaged in the democratic process is absolutely essential.

So I don't know if there's a gauntlet of reporters and protesters still showing up at City Hall.

uh maybe but that's because you know they've been discussing things like the flock camera regulations which is still a very big story to both the providence and boston news stations because new bedford is kind of one of the first to start working on these guidelines And the city just announced, well, the police department just announced last week or revealed last week that they're not going to be renewing the Flock contract, which means if they do go forward with ALPR technology, it'll be a different vendor.

So there's a lot of news happening that would make reporters and protesters alike want to be at City Hall, not just the situation with Sean Oliver.

In fact, I'd say that situation has probably calmed down over the last week.
