and now i've dimmed down that roar a bit and you can play with the settings a little bit to get the right exact kind of spot that you want to be in

So that's another way you can do it.

You can back off the gain itself.

You can play with the AGC threshold a little bit.

If you have attenuation, like in Perseus, or if you're using Jaguar with your Perseus, you have those steps of 10, 20, 30 dB of attenuation, you can use that as well.
