Alexander JosephsonGUEST

Let's use Frank Gehry as an example, right? He was making radical forms, radical geometry.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
19:49
He did not have a way with Autodesk to document.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
19:54
So he would make models.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
19:56
People sometimes don't look at this for what it is.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
22:59
And we're coming after more.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
23:02
And this scales because, by the way, if you have a stack of 13 softwares, 20 softwares, think about the software stack that an architect has to deal with.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
23:13
Autodesk, McNeil, all the AI platforms now, Miro, ClickUp, Monograph, Dell Tech.
Alexander JosephsonGUEST
23:21
It goes on and on and on and on and on through this pyramid.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
71:19
I want to play video games tonight.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
71:21
Do you think Autodesk and ESRI software can ever be replaced by AI? As a civil engineer, I hope so.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
71:31
Kev, I do not see any stumbling blocks to it.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
71:38
Essentially, any software, as long as they have enough training data, so like problem definition, input, output, As long as there is enough of it, AI companies should be able to incorporate that data into the training phase and more importantly, the post-training phases, like in the reinforcement learning stages of the model development process to make it good, right? The fact that they have AIs that has gone through reinforcement learning for areas like legal, right? And for areas like hardware engineering and things like that, If they could do that, I definitely think Autodesk skills is something that could conceivably be done.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
72:23
So that's my honest opinion on this.
AsianDadEnergyHOST
72:26
Okay.
FloydHOST
35:38
They did a mocap demo.
FloydHOST
35:39
Autodesk teamed up with this other company.
FloydHOST
35:41
And at that time, mocap was a tethered suit.
FloydHOST
35:44
There was like a plug that would go into your back that would connect to the harness and all the things.
Lance CaykoHOST
24:07
Construction document set, sections, elevations, details, door and finish schedules, the lot, checking load, local code requirements as it goes, a 50,000 square foot office building that normally takes two to four weeks of manual documentation gets a full sheet set generated in hours, ready for human review.
Lance CaykoHOST
24:26
Autodesk and Trimble are both building this
Alex GoreHOST

rather than leaving it to plugins.
Evan TroxelHOST
1:49
So I asked all of them the same question.
Evan TroxelHOST
1:51
In a real firm today, what can it actually do and what can't it? In this episode, you'll hear from representatives at Chaos, Upcodes, Twinmaster, Ignite, Bentley, Graphisoft, Schema, BIMBeats, Finch, Autodesk, Avail, and three practitioners.
Evan TroxelHOST

This is episode four of the next AEC Tech Stack series, From Autocomplete to Agent, Where AEC Actually Is.
Evan TroxelHOST
2:18
Welcome to the Troxel podcast.

Evan TroxelHOST
20:45
And I would say at the lowest level, we're even confused about what the difference is between autocomplete, copilots, and agents.
Evan TroxelHOST
20:53
And the whole idea behind this episode is agentic AI.
Evan TroxelHOST
20:56
So I asked Oliver Goldman at Autodesk if he could distinguish between those terms for us.
Evan TroxelHOST
21:01
If you could... lay out the distinction between auto complete co pilot and agent when it comes to AI and where where you are with what you have exposed to users at this point, where they should be, where do you think they should be in that kind of process?
Sam EitzenGUEST

There's Spot in the Creative Boundary.
Sam EitzenGUEST

Autodesk, same with Spot, a juggling while trying to solve XYZ business challenge.
Sam EitzenGUEST

And like, it creates this little moment where I have now affected the prompt or the output.
Sam EitzenGUEST
21:22
And people love it when their content is extra personalized, right? So like, in the beginning, we'd sell an AI photo booth and the client was totally jazzed to see like 600 people become...

Number one, direct B-Wrap neural architectures predicting topology natively.
speaker_1HOST
42:37
Number two, standardized CAD MCP servers released by majors like Autodesk and Onshape.

42:43
Number three, continuous action robotics policies using flow matching, pushing control above 50 hertz.

42:48
Number four, authenticated B2B quoting APIs built strictly for agents.

And like all of these elements just kind of came together, but then it created something completely unique.
Joey DaoudHOST
6:21
Other thing that was happening at TIFF, so I had to leave before this panel happened, but Autodesk was also running a panel.
Joey DaoudHOST
6:29
And they were more focused on Flow Studio.
Joey DaoudHOST
6:33
So Flow Studio is their AI-centric
Joey DaoudHOST
7:49
Interesting.
Joey DaoudHOST
7:50
While still having that level of...
Addy GhaniHOST
7:53
I think Autodesk sees that their revenue is in sort of Maya licenses and things like that, right? Like their bread and butter is maybe on the animation side more so than the live action side.
Addy GhaniHOST
8:05
And so they're trying to capture or recapture that market with sort of the next generation of tooling, which is Flow Studio.
Tim DerringtonGUEST
39:11
And I will say the software itself There are like two main platforms.
Tim DerringtonGUEST

Tim DerringtonGUEST
39:19
I'm sure you've heard of it.
Tim DerringtonGUEST

A lot of your users or audience has heard of it as well.
