to come and do a performance sign off can be between 80 to 120 000 dollars so if you're thinking you know you build and look construction's gone up so like it's you know gone are the days where you could build a house for two hundred thousand dollars but you know if you're thinking even eight hundred thousand dollars to build your new dream home and then in order to be able to live in it you have to pay another hundred thousand dollars a potentially a massive barrier against you using to go down a 3d printed route versus a standard construction process The guys at the Australian Building Code Board are well aware of this.

There have been some fantastic discussions about how the code can be adjusted.

And that also opened up my eyes to start looking at the building certification, building surveying side of things.

And I got my diploma within building surveying and then took up a role with the Australian Building Codes Board up in Canberra at the start of 2012.

I moved up to Canberra and took on a role writing the building codes with the ABCB and the NCC and managing some of their policy work.

And that was fascinating work.

One of the things that we did do there was the time that we had the cladding fires around in Australia and internationally on the high-rise buildings and responding to that one and rises of products that may not meet our building codes or regulations as well, both imported and domestic products.

And I had some great mentors and leaders when I was at my time with the Australian Building Codes Board.

I did that for six years and then moved across to the HIA and I've really enjoyed my time with HIA and sort of brings a lot of my different career perspectives together and try to support the builders and the tradies and the product manufacturers and suppliers.
