The Memphis section says, "In what actually is another major piece of news, apparently Jerry Lawler will be out of action for a few months.
Karl SternHOST
On the January 11th card, he was double-teamed by Austin Idol and Tommy Rich and did a stretcher job.
Karl SternHOST
It was then announced on TV that he had a major groin injury and would be out of action for about three months." Of course, this is the legendary famous posting angle.
Karl SternHOST
And, um, I did a whole, I did a big, like, audio documentary on this called The, The Saga of Jerry Lawler, Austin Idol, Tommy Rich.
Karl SternHOST
Uh, if you want, if you want...
Karl SternHOST
And it's got clips and outtakes from this whole thing.
Karl SternHOST
Check that show out because I think you will come away.
Karl SternHOST
I think after you listen to that show, and again, it's one of my Saga Of series, excuse me, I think it's going to blow your mind.
Mike MontiHOST
Don't forget that, uh, Money in the Bank is tonight.
Mike MontiHOST
Yesterday we had the great Austin Idol on.
Mike MontiHOST
Thoughts on the Austin Idol interview, Jimmy?
Jimmy PharaohHOST
Austin Idol was awesome.
Jimmy PharaohHOST
Uh, it just ...
Jimmy PharaohHOST
It's the, it's the, it's the mag days that just make me wonder about what they might've been later on.
Jimmy PharaohHOST
He has to say it.
Mike MontiHOST
Speaking about wrestling, Thursday at 4:00 Jimmy and I will have the great Austin Idol, the legend.
PhilGUEST
Oh, man.
Mike MontiHOST
Austin Idol will be in the house.
Mike MontiHOST
Very excited for that.
Mike MontiHOST
And, uh, Jimmy and I and the channel, uh, Bruce, Phil, uh, we're in negotiations with Austin Idol.
Mike MontiHOST
He wants to come on with his own weekly show-
PhilGUEST

Austin IdolGUEST
It's so cold.
Austin IdolGUEST
Yeah.
Austin IdolGUEST
Hey, did you hear Austin Idol died? Who care-
Jimmy PharaohHOST
Hey
Jimmy StreetHOST
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Jimmy StreetHOST
And Mike McCord went in the water and Austin Idol came out.
Jimmy StreetHOST
So that was, you know, it changed his career, but, uh, definitely, uh, King Bobby Shane could have, it's hard to tell what would have happened with Bobby, um, after that.
Jimmy StreetHOST
Um, but, uh, that, that's great information.
Mike RodgersHOST
He was not taken seriously as a singles wrestler.
Mike RodgersHOST
If he had that added size, he very easily could have had a career compared to someone like Austin Idol, who was very charismatic.
Frank CulbertsonHOST
And it's always funny to me when we hear about Bull Ramos and Jesse Ventura, and Bull is doing the talking and not letting Ventura talk.
Frank CulbertsonHOST
And yet when Rose gets Ventura, he allows Ventura to talk.
Brian TramelHOST
the one I posted, [sighs] the one I posted just, like, day before yesterday is already up to, I forget what it is, a ridiculous amount of views.
Brian TramelHOST
Uh, and speaking of ridiculous amount of views, a, a clip of the Austin Idol angle from the week before, I just took the clip that we aired on this show and just threw it on Facebook.
Brian TramelHOST
As of yesterday was, I posted it either Thursday or Friday, and it was up to, like, 22,000 views by yesterday.
Brian TramelHOST
So, uh, as much as I may not be a fan, uh, Austin Idol's got some fans out there apparently.
Gene JacksonHOST
Yeah, he gets-
Josh RileyHOST
But-

Brian TramelHOST
Oh
Gene JacksonHOST
... also wanna know something.
Karl SternHOST
Yeah.
Karl SternHOST
Austin idol.
Karl SternHOST
And so a lot of my guys were doing big things in a different place.
Karl SternHOST
And so I, I guess it was just the temptation of, of just the getting to see bits and pieces of it, but not getting to participate.

Karl SternHOST
I think one of the Birmingham stations aired that promotion as well.
Karl SternHOST
what was the difference between it and Jerry Blackwell's promotion? Was it the same thing, just somebody else bought it, or was it two different things? Because I remember it had that real great, one of them had that real great Nightmares vs.
Karl SternHOST
Nightmares feud, and then one of them had like Pauly Dangerously and Austin Idol and Randy Rose, and I remember liking that stuff too.
Karl SternHOST
It's all confusing to me because I don't remember exactly which was which and what was what.
speaker_5SOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Just like he did all the rest.
speaker_5SOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
He turned his back on Austin Idol.
speaker_5SOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
And nobody, nobody turns his back on me.
speaker_5SOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
And I know nobody turns his back on Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler.
40 MINS LATER
Karl SternHOST
This was so great.
Karl SternHOST
You need to dig into my archives on Patreon and look and see.
Karl SternHOST
Get the saga of the Jerry Lawler, Tommy Rich, Austin Idol angle.
Karl SternHOST
It covers this very time period, this very match.
Captain NickGUEST
But just the fact, you know, the first national superstar on TBS.
Captain NickGUEST
You know, the feuds with Jerry Lawler, teaming with Austin Idol.
Captain NickGUEST
The whole blooded Italian stuff.
Captain NickGUEST
You know, I mean, Tommy Rich had, had an amazing career and, you know, and so many different chapters, uh, Gail Kim, you know, TNA hall of famer.
