An Odyssey reference could also be a nod to Nolan, perhaps.

Yes, I know it's grabbing at straws, but the idea of Craig being John Lark and dispatched in the first moment is a good one.

Great stuff and a great film.

You had me there

Yeah, and apparently on this movie they did film extra stuff.

They really wanted to dive deeper into the Ethan Hunt as John Lark element, and so they had him doing horrible things, quote unquote, they said, but found that was too intellectual and the audience wanted more of a fun ride.

So they pulled back on all that stuff.

Originally also, um, the Julia character had a baby, um, in that entire ending, and they cut that very shortly before filming.

Originally it would end with a actually romantic kiss between Ethan and Ilsa, and they ended up cutting that 'cause they thought the will they, won't they was much more interesting.

Yeah.

And there was also a famous actor playing the John Lark, uh, stand-in in the bathroom scene.

They've never revealed who it was, but the actor couldn't keep up with the fight choreography with Cruise and Cavill.
