It's one of the rarest Arkham House books published because initially it was only around 500 copies.

And you may well know, but there are a number of stories that always float around about a Horn Book for Witches It was partly funded by Drake herself and she worked with August Derleth to have it published and Derleth, as he often did with poets, he had them contribute to the costs of the publication.

So he did very nice little editions of books by Drake and other poets like Clark Ashton Smith and Robert E Howard and others.

And they were all in small editions.

How did you first discover her?

Well, a long time ago, and because I've collected Arkham House books forever and a day, I was always reading her name here and there.

You know, it's one of those things that you read about Arkham House and you try and track down all the books and then you read about August Derleth who founded Arkham House and you just came across her name all the time.

It took me many years to actually get a copy of A Horn Book for Witches.

And I started, just discovered the guitar, started staying away from school 'cause I couldn't face going to school.

Um, but, you know, instead of playing video games and getting stoned, which wasn't available to me at that point, um, I was reading, um, Robert Bloch and August Derleth and great writers 'cause I loved horror, and, uh, playing the guitar, and that was my education, really.

After, once I learned to read and write, you know, that was what I w- took out of school.

No, it's great.

And we have August Derleth and Donald Wandrei to thank for his fiction being, um, immortalized really through their founding of Arkham House, which was-
