Well, my mum was born in a place called County Monaghan, uh, which is in southern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and, um, at the age of 15, she went to a place called Aughnacloy in County Tyrone, where she trained to be a hairdresser, rather like Nora in the novel, against all the odds.
