Audition

Uh, what three horror movies are you bringing with you to this desert island?

Well, first of all, thank you so much, and, um, second, my choices are, um, Takashi Miike's Audition, Robin Hardy's original 1973 The Wicker Man, and Ken Russell's 1971 film The Devils.

Okay.

Listeners, y'all, y'all see what I mean now? We, we have, we have bangers.

We have no skips, all bangers right from the s- from the start.

And let's, l- let's just go in the order that you mentioned them.

Uh, starting with Audition, which, uh, is one of those, like, I feel like every millennial horror fan has to do the rite of passage of watching Audition.

It's one of those movies where everyone's like, "You've seen the, you've seen Audition, you've seen what happens at the end of Audition." Um, how long has this movie been in your life?

I love Ju-on.

I love The Audition, which is one that I'm considering showing as the first movie that I screen with subtitles at my show.

Whoa, this is way far.

Ju-on, Ringu, The Audition, Oldboy.

There's a lot of Japanese horror that I like.

If I can't find a Halloween-themed horror movie, Ju-on would be a great one.

They've had a long time to come up with stuff and they...

Do not hold back.

That's just probably most, I think is most famous movie, but you know, to me anyways.

Yeah, Audition is actually an adaptation of a book by a guy that I think falls into the extreme horror category, Ryu Murakami.

I'm terrible at pronouncing his name, but I love his work.

Everything I've read by him is fucking great.

And yeah, he wrote the Audition book that Mikaye adapted, and then apparently he thought it was a great film from what I read.

Sometimes.

Yeah.

Now jack has picked ...

Audition [clapping].

From 1999.

Jack.

Bravo.

Thank you ChatGPT for giving Thomas all that.

[laughs] Uh, so Audition, 1999 previously covered on this pod.

Uh, Creepmaster 2, thank you Jack for that.
