Which
Neil GregoryHOST
31:14
was Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as well, was when they started like laying out banger after banger of movie soundtracks.
Neil GregoryHOST
31:21
I just remembered, I saw the social network for the first time on the ship, on the big outdoor screen.
Neil GregoryHOST
31:26
And we did a team night out to watch it.
Michael CrutchfieldHOST
16:24
Just another question, just because I like to write myself a lot.
Michael CrutchfieldHOST
16:28
I usually like to have soundtracks in the background and I usually typically put Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on.
Michael CrutchfieldHOST
16:35
I don't know what you listen to when you write.
Michael CrutchfieldHOST
16:37
Do you have anything that you that gets the juices flowing or do you have like a soundtrack that you refer to when you're writing?
Jen TidmanHOST
56:11
yeah it went on my 2026 best songs list straight away
Joel RiglerHOST
56:15
one more track in this hour and it is another band that I saw last week Manchester Psych Fest but this is a brand new single Working Man's Club Devout it's a standalone at the moment it's produced by Nine Inch Nails as Atticus Ross this is good Four O'Clock Classic is going to be a wholly surprising one from you isn't it
Jen TidmanHOST
56:33
very anyone who knows me can figure it out
speaker_12UNKNOWN
60:10
The breakdown.
Jeff LaplanteHOST

also like it's all about like having the space to let things breathe and the melody has to evoke emotion like that's the whole point of the cue so you need a really compelling melody a great melody done correctly can make somebody weep that's what we that's what we're going for here you know so if you're just doing a simple melody for the sake of doing a simple melody it might not pass muster you're trying to evoke emotion that's the whole point of writing this music because it's going into a scene that whoever is producing that scene needs to do something to the audience and they're looking for something powerful
Dave KropfHOST
65:31
one of the my my most favorite like emotional storytelling like piano driven cues is from trent reznor and atticus ross in the social network that is such a simple melody Like it's so dead simple and so effective.
Dave KropfHOST
65:54
And yeah, Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor.
Dave KropfHOST
65:57
That's a fantastic soundtrack, by the way.
Dave KropfHOST
65:59
They're coming up with a sequel to that.
speaker_4UNKNOWN
37:18
Okay.
ChrisHOST
37:18
Um, it's a Reznor and, uh, Atticus Ross thing.
ChrisHOST
37:23
Yeah.
ChrisHOST
37:24
It's very, it's very good.
Keith CaulfieldHOST
20:15
Like you're not a, it's easier in air quotes to at least get a nomination through the best original song category.
Keith CaulfieldHOST
20:24
Or, you know, if you also happen to be a composer, like in the case of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Keith CaulfieldHOST
20:29
There's the score category.
Keith CaulfieldHOST
20:30
The score category.
Aaron AlexanderHOST
25:59
yeah
Greg AlbaHOST
26:01
okay cool you want to watch this two-hour advertisement that they weren't allowed to put out on the original company's website that produced the movie exactly exactly uh but yeah i'm looking forward to it um it looks freaking sick yeah this looks like one of those modern day nightmares that i'm yeah like i i'm sure i won't feel great having watched it but i'm sure it'll be very engrossing right and i just can't wait for that soundtrack uh nice damon all barnes stuff has has a unique melancholy and a unique grasp on both the organic and the digital and i think that's going to be the same way trent resner yeah and atticus ross make for a really like natural but unique port over from a specific genre and type of music i think damon can also do very
John HumphreyHOST
26:51
to score it
Greg AlbaHOST
26:51
well i'm looking forward to hearing what that's like but anyway guys which of these trailers was your favorite what's your favorite chat gpt prompt wow and uh who should be trapped in a love house with as a ghost uh we love you uh I wish that the the guy who directed Godzilla did this VFX for all of these we didn't get an aspect ratio change but we did get uh that you know shift from the upstairs to the downstairs so in a in a similar fashion you know we changed the scope of the world and as we went from outside into inside things almost like widened out in an in an eerie unnatural way
Jason GossHOST
44:53
Um, It's roughly how you had, how it was in your head at the end of the series.
Jason GossHOST
44:57
And then it was months later in like some interview about the music for the show with fucking, it was like an interview with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross about the music for the show.
Jason GossHOST
45:07
And that's where they revealed who the character was.
Jason GossHOST
45:09
Wow.
Jehnny BethGUEST
38:33
Recorded there.
Jehnny BethGUEST
38:34
Worked with Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails.
Jehnny BethGUEST
38:36
Did three songs with him.
Jehnny BethGUEST
38:38
Then we moved, um, to London.
Louis PaxtonGUEST
45:00
And my editor is outstandingly, you know, it just meant that you never work with temp music, which I love.
Louis PaxtonGUEST
45:06
So you never, which I, cause I hate, I've cut things before where, you end up putting like trent resner and atticus ross over it because it's great it's just such good music but
Donal GleesonSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
45:15
then but then you can't get it yeah yeah you can't use it and
Louis PaxtonGUEST
45:18
also it's like you know it's the soundtrack of another very kind of notable film so you end up having to jettison that and and and go to a composer and and say can you do something in the vibe of you know this amazing soundtrack and i just don't think it's very creative for them either so i would always work like this from now on you know if possible and it just meant that in the edit we were always using, we had a library of music that we could kind of draw from.
