Atsuko Tanaka

I find that very interesting, and so for me, a recur-- there's a lot of recurrent concerns or obsessions that I have as a poet.

Uh, in this book, the reason it's called "Electric Dress," and the reason I have the artwork of the wonderful mid-century Japanese artist Atsuko Tanaka on the cover, and, um, I was so grateful that we were able to receive permission to reprint it.

She's a huge source of inspiration for me, and that's why, uh, the, the title poem, "Electric Dress," is actually inspired by her work.

Um, [clears throat] I'm very interested in anything having to do with progress, technology, efficiency, uh, comfort, um, the things that have made our lives what they are today, but also the cost of that comfort and progress and technology.
