By sunrise the next day, those who had left the park early or had stayed in that night, woke up to the nightmare that had unfolded.

One Atlantan resident, Bill Cox Jr., shared his feeling with the Atlanta Magazine.

The city had been on a euphoric high because of the Olympics for weeks and weeks.

The bombing was a sucker punch to the gut.

Richard studied law enforcement and took small security jobs, clinging to the hope that someday, someone would see his dedication.

And it looked like things were finally lining up for him, but everything came crashing down just three days later.

On July 30th, around 3.30 p.m., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published a special afternoon paper, an extra edition, with an article co-written by Kathy Scruggs and Ron Martz.

Minutes later, a CNN anchor held the front-page headline up to the camera, FBI Suspects Hero Guard May Have Planted Bomb.

So there will be a co-host each day this week, Tuesday through Friday, that is a woman of radio.

And there's women from all over the country who are doing it, and I get to go represent Atlanta and Nashville up there in New York City on Friday.

Well, that is great.

I will set my DVR for it.

You'll be great.

I think I'll be comf- comfortable with the conversationalist part.

I was talking to our friend Rich Eldridge from Atlanta Magazine, and we were talking about that dance that we do in here when we interview celebrities, that I know when Melissa leans a certain way, that she's about to say something funny, or I know when you breathe a certain way, you're about to ask a question, or I can see in Bert's eyes when he's gonna ask a follow-up question.
