Up first, a real estate photographer in Athens, Alabama had his drone shot down mid-job.

Michael Gardner was flying his DJI Mavic 4 Pro off Lindsay Lane on Saturday, August 29th, when he heard a gunshot.

His video feed went haywire and the drone dropped out of the sky.

Formed in the small town of Athens, Alabama, the high school misfits, who turned to music, Alabama Shakes, built a sound that was simultaneously rooted and forward-looking, steeped in soul, rock, blues, and country, but never settling for straightforward revivalism.

Howard fronted the band with a commanding stage presence, barbed lead guitar lines, and a voice that can be gentle, lilt, or tsunami.

The band's first album, Boys and Girls, in 2012, climbed into the top ten as Alabama Shakes toured ever larger venues.
