Finally this morning, It's been a late summer of change for us here on the Capitals Radio Network.

After two seasons here, our very own Katie Florio is now the new sideline reporter for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sportsnet Pittsburgh.

Coming here two years ago from AHL Colorado, she was terrific on the air.

She started the afternoon show here.

These teams do send broadcasters, but sometimes it's just a silent stream.

Although I say that, and then, you know, you have a network, the Sportsnet Pittsburgh, that literally does nothing other than show Penguins and Pirates games.

It's their only reason for existing.

Why would you not just show everything? I know there's a cost factor to it, but up the value.

Really looking forward to our conversation today with somebody that's been on the show before, and a dear friend of mine in the business.

Her name is Katie Florio, and the last couple of seasons she has been the radio host and done some, some great work for the Washington Capitals, and she has been scooped up to do some TV work now as a reporter with, uh, SportsNet Pittsburgh and of course the Penguins along with the, uh, the face of the league, Sidney Crosby.

It's gonna be a really cool conversation because she was out there watching Alex Ovechkin in his run to greatness to become the all-time goal scoring leader in the history of the league, and now she's gonna get to cover Crosby in the twilight of his career as the Penguins try to make one more run with their three big superstars, uh, on their team.

You know, of course you think of Crosby at the top of that list but, uh, you can't help but think of, uh, the guys he's got with him.

I am Josh Getzoff, and we are so psyched to welcome in this week from the Penguins Radio Network and of Penguins media lore of decades, Mr.

And I'm just excited for year two to see how he continues to do that and how he puts the pieces together because he has a lot of them to figure out where they're going to fit.

Well, and to your point, I think that year two is going to be interesting for him because of the fact that really, I mean, a lot of people are like, to your point, what's going to happen now in this season? Everyone last year was unsure of how you were going to coach, what your approach was going to be, you know, who you were going to be.

essentially nobody really knew that much about you as far as seeing you on a day-to-day basis uh now everyone has everyone's dealt with him um we obviously have the penguins game plan show with him here on sportsnet pittsburgh and he's he's excellent to deal with but when you have a lot of success Um, people then come to expect it.

And that penguins team last year, I think when you just call it for what it is, was so special and so fun because nobody saw it coming.

Because if we, in the season, 83 wins instead of 81, yeah, hindsight doesn't matter, but it does matter.

Everybody on the planet in Pittsburgh cares if we have a winning record.

They always talk about, oh, they're losing record.

So for me, every game in September, if we did something different, win them all.

Cooper, who did play a long time ago.

But if you want to see crazy good pitching stats,

for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Go look up Wilbur Cooper's numbers.

And hopefully it's going to get announced, you know, either before the season or maybe even during the season, but that'll do it for the second segment coming up to end the show.

Sportsnet Pittsburgh has officially announced a replacement for Haley Hunter.

KB Florio is now the Penguins ringside reporter for Sportsnet Pittsburgh.

On Monday, Sportsnet Pittsburgh officially announced that Katie Florio is the Penguins' new ringside reporter, replacing Haley Hunter.

She will join Sportsnet Pittsburgh for game coverage, and she will have occasional studio hosting duties.
