and what it means to have uncontrolled or controlled asthma?

Yeah, that's a great question.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lungs.

And the way that I explain it to my patients is as the airways are inflamed, they increase mucus production in the airway, There's swelling inside the airway, and there's muscles that surround the airway that tighten and spasm.
