was recognized early and recently when Southern California was elected to membership in the Association of American Universities.

Among other things, this group of 48 public and private universities sets and maintains standards for graduate education.

It's indeed a pleasure for Don Kramer and I to be with you on this Rose Bowl broadcast, a broadcast being heard around the world this afternoon.

So the last time they did a, a larger survey about this was 2019.

The Association of American Universities surveyed about 33 schools and, uh, found that the average percent of students who experience a sexual assault's about 13%, uh, compared to about 25.9% for undergraduate women.

So, uh, the number we're seeing at Cornell is about 10% higher, though again, one in four undergraduate women experiencing a sexual assault, uh, nationwide during their undergraduate education is still a shockingly concerning number.

Yeah, really, uh, powerful accusations here, and we'll see how powerful sort of the response, the effect of it all is, uh, at a more systemic level.

But we are Cleveland's research university.

We are the fastest growing research university in the Association of American Universities.

And this institution became part of the AAU in 1969.

What's also very interesting is we are two medical schools, the Western Reserves Medical School, and then we have the Lerner College of Medicine over in Cleveland Clinic that sits as part of our accreditation.

So we are very partners.

So we, you know, we're a state flagship.

We're AAU and APLU.

We serve the state of Colorado first and foremost, but we serve the entire nation and the globe as a R1 AAU university.

If you were to list all of the AAU universities and ordered them by when they joined the AAU, we're pretty much right in the middle, right? So we're not, you know, one of the original 20 and we're not a newcomer either.

We've been AAU for a long time.

So that makes us an R1 powerhouse If you want to talk about quantum science and technology, you have to talk about CU Boulder, four Nobel prizes this century, three in quantum.

If you want to talk about space, number one public institution for NASA science funding in the United States.

Right.
