Ashley Padilla

So you got to put the appearances and the screen time together.

Ended up being a 133.6. Ashley Padilla in number two spot, 135.7.

So she did win the week.

Slightly above Mikey in the power ranking, but is just behind by 1.5 of Mikey.

But I'd love to see Grace and Jeremy further up the chain.

We'll see.

I mean, Ashley Padilla being a second-year player and breaking all these records, it has happened.

And as I mentioned, Ben Marshall jumping up into fourth place, really kind of being a little bit of irrelevant last season as somebody who was a known commodity from PDD.

Yeah.

And honestly, I chose this one because it's yet another example of why and how Ashley Padilla is on that trajectory to becoming an absolute SNL icon and legend right up there with the Chris Catans and the Kristen Wiigs.

She's like Chris

the wig, Kate McKinnon.

Yes, yeah.

He could do a mix of deadpan as well as being super expressive.

But I really loved seeing Ashley Padilla in that role.

Again, what can't she do? We will find out.

I will say that historical precedence for something like this does come into my mind with Joe Pesci talking about the Sinead O'Connor thing the episode after.

Kate Winslet talking about Ashley Simpson's incident.

The episode after it, there is precedent for something like this to happen, but it was just because it was three weeks later and SNL UK had already addressed it fairly directly that it was a little bit surprised by it.

So Sammy, I just want to ask your take on it and then also bring in the second part of the monologue, which featured the cast showing off their costumes, which I thought was really fun.

So yeah, this was fun getting to see him out there in the monologue.

Okay, let's talk about the ghosts of the Queen Mary tour.

We're going to see Ashley Keenan, Ben and James there.

James is the tour guide walking them through and they're going to see some spirits from passengers from the 1930s.

I mean, he's great.

I think the thing is, I'd be hard-pressed not to compare him to kind of Ashley Padilla's meteoric rise in SNL U.S., But the difference with the two of them is, and I think this is the thing I like about Freddie's presence, Ashley feels like when she does a sketch, it's her.

Like she is the lightning rod that is the piece.

Freddie feels good.

Hi, I'm Zac Barron, and this is One More Question.

My guest this week is Ashley Padilla.

Ashley is a rising star, now in her third season at Saturday Night Live.

The great critic Jason Zinnemann of the New York Times recently called her a hilarious new comic voice, someone likely to define the sensibility of the show for years to come.

Like, this person? They're great.

In our conversation, we talk about what this moment is like for her, about her years in Los Angeles, working for Diane Keaton, about the state of SNL, and about her relentless positivity, which just kind of radiates off her.

So here is my conversation with Ashley Padilla.

Ashley Padilla, you are a rising star at SNL.
