This is a long time ago.

Oh, my gosh.

You know, you had an hour-long press conference at 1pm, which was getting, I think, probably basically... a majority of adults in New Zealand watching the entire press conference, as opposed to now where you might have 600,000 people watching a 15-second snippet of a press conference on one news.

And I think this is not necessarily unique to, you know, Jacinda Ardern, Chris Hipkins, Andrew Little, Ashley Bloomfield.

I think it's just generally politicians are better in the long form.

When they have a chance to stand there for an hour and talk in great detail about a matter that they've been well briefed on, they appear very competent and they appear personable, and it's the journalists who appear annoying and snippy and rude.

And I think that's top down.

So the particular example... was around the leadership of Chris Hipkins and probably to a significant extent Ashley Bloomfield and some of the decisions made during COVID.

And the reason it came up, and it seems highly coincidental, is that my oldest son during the COVID years died.

was working for a company in New York State, in Albany, New York, called Regeneron.

One could be that people are taking more risks because they think they've been vaccinated.

And of course, New Zealand ended up having about as many cases as COVID as most of the countries that we thought were a lot better than.

And so I actually got that information through to Ashley Bloomfield's office.

and, you know, have all that sort of recorded or written down and thought, OK, you know, we've done a good thing here.

we went to a speech by Ashley Bloomfield earlier this year and he basically said the media training they all get in Parliament is to answer the question you wanted to hear and were prepared for, just like Tama did in your example.

He did pretty much what they said they all do.

They don't answer what's actually asked unless it was a question they wanted to answer and he said he had extensive media training.

This is, no thank you.

Ashley Bloomfield was one of those people.

And we respect that.

We respect that.
