Ashland County

This election cycle, what was once a solidly Republican-controlled seat in the US House of Representatives, has now become competitive in Ohio, bringing national attention to this race due to personal controversy.

Ohio's 7th Congressional District seat, which covers western Cuyahoga County down through Medina County, Wayne County, and all of Ashland County, is now described by the Cook Political Report as a toss-up contest between incumbent Republican Max Miller and Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter.

Today, we're bringing you our conversation with Poindexter, a union ironworker and Brook Park City Council member for the last nine years.

We reached out to Miller personally and through his communications team multiple times requesting an interview.

And, you know, if, if they get that, uh, loss of funding, now they have to cut that service, now you have to drive further to get your, your care, or, or they just don't have your care that you need.

You know, if you need a, a urologist and they cut the urology department in, um, you know, in Ashland County, now you gotta drive to an- another county to get that service, and it's just, it's just a, a domino effect of increasing costs for hardworking families.

We'll wrap things up with a final question here about something that is very top of mind for many Ohioans.
