Ashkenazi Hasidim

Rebbe Lazar of Worms dies in 1238.

He's one of the last major leaders of Hasidic Ashkenaz, who we've spoken about before, around about the time just before the Zohar comes out.

But remember, The Hasid Ashkenaz were the early Hasidim, nothing to do with the Baal Shem Tov Hasidim, much, much, much later.

He was actually a Tothifist and a great mystic.

But Hasidic Ashkenaz adopted German folklore.
