Ash-Shams

This is the same verb used from تِلَاوَة.

يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلَاوَتِهِ وَالْقَامَرُ إِذَا تَلَاهَا So the verb is تَلَا يَتْلُو this is a this is a so he's saying here that the true is in following in following and he's using this Verse here from Surah Al-Sham to clarify that meaning.

وَالْقَمَرُ إِذَا تَلَاهَا And by the moon as it follows it.

أي تَبِعَهَا Meaning as it follows it.

The Quran also attributes the creation of sin to God.

Surah Al-Shams in verses 7 and 8 says that God inspired sin in humankind.

Surah Al-Balad in verse 4 says that God created man in toil and trouble.

Surah An-Nisa verse 88, Al-Araf verse 178, And Ibrahim, verse 4, all say that God leads astray.

Everyone has access to salvation.

And again, we talked about this in the previous episode, that Surah 91, verse 8, when it's talking about the human being that God created, that He showed, elham, what is good and what is evil, meaning that we all have this innate knowledge of good and evil.

And you can think of it in the same way that we all have an innate knowledge of gravity.

It's not that it wasn't until Isaac Newton came on the scene that people didn't realize that, yes, things fall to the ground.

[clears throat] [background noise] So we, inshallah, will take a look at, um, the creation of the nafs itself, [clears throat] as it is in various surahs in the Quran.

[background noise] Beginning with Surah Ash-Shams, [clears throat] um, verse seven to, to ten.

God talks about the formation of the nafs.

"Wa nafsin wa ma sawaaha," and the nafs, mm, and how Allah, uh, formed the nafs proportionately.

May- may- maybe, maybe it's, it's not a bad word necessarily, but, um, the, the linguist in me is interested in thinking, "Well, what does the verb 'aqara mean, if there's a verb like that?" Um, and actually, we do see this verb in another place.

We see it in Surat Al-Shams.

Do you remember where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says after audhu billahi minash shaitanir rajim, "Fakadhdhabuhu fa'aqaruha"? So they denied him.

They denied him, so what did they do? "Fa'aqaruha." So they, we translate this as hamstrung her, meaning the naqa, the, the she-camel in that, that particular story.
