Aimee SmaleHOST
21:54
So
Nana AcheampongGUEST
21:55
mine definitely has to be Royal Ascot.
Aimee SmaleHOST
21:58
I love.
Nana AcheampongGUEST
21:59
Yeah.
Nana AcheampongGUEST
22:00
Just because, I mean, something like this would be great at Royal Ascot.
Nana AcheampongGUEST
22:03
Yeah.
Nana AcheampongGUEST
22:04
I love any sort of occasion where you can get really, really dressed up.
Aimee SmaleHOST
22:15
We need that on a t-shirt.
Anne Marie DuffPANELIST
23:55
I was waiting for it to get past him all the time.
Anne Marie DuffPANELIST
23:57
And the fact as well that he ran at the Curragh for Irish Champions weekend, then went to Longchamp, then went to Ascot and came back here.
Anne Marie DuffPANELIST
24:03
That's four quick, you know, we've given St. Scandinavia had a hard race at the Curragh, which kind of didn't make him perform so well.
Anne Marie DuffPANELIST
24:10
And France was... put a bit of a lesser light there because this horse has run four times in the last two months and there he was battling on again yeah Galileo horse so it's the old fashioned breeding but yeah I thought he did it well I mean again you would expect Scandinavia to be better than him and I suppose just to go back briefly to the mile two juvenile race again for a minute I thought Jesus Greenman much better than what you would normally give credit to a third place horse because I think possibly maybe that distance at that age of his career would be just too far from like a mile two's tough enough task for a two-year-old and he's not particularly bred he's by a guy out of a visible spirit mare and he ran his second last four long like was faster than the race so he did have a turn of foot there and then he just seemed to be caught out he was slow through the last four long so I think he ran much better race than you might be giving credit for going forward next year so I wouldn't dismiss him as a good one horse Jesus Green for Joseph there either
Mark CostelloHOST
26:30
Doesn't have any European connection, but the second horse was an ex-Irish horse named Birdman.
Mark CostelloHOST
26:36
who was a listed winner for Jessica Harrington two years ago.
Mark CostelloHOST
26:40
Royal Ascot placed as well.
Mark CostelloHOST
26:41
Now he's won two Group Ones in Australia this year.
Nick LuckHOST
13:02
There were a lot of sages saying, But, you know, he'll need to get used to Gorham Park and some of these tracks in Ireland.
Nick LuckHOST
13:10
He's not, you know, he might be good around your Ascotts and Cheltenhams, but you wait till he gets to
Ruby WalshGUEST
13:15
Tremor.
Ruby WalshGUEST
13:16
He's not too bad around Newton, but either.
Paul JonesGUEST
7:29
But I like to look at horses, say two or three trends combined very strongly.
Paul JonesGUEST
7:34
I mean, take, for example, the Duke of Edinburgh handicap at Royal Ascot, which is for older horses over a mile and a half.
Paul JonesGUEST
7:41
And up until last year, 20 runner fields, horses drawn nine plus had won 13 consecutive runnings.
Paul JonesGUEST
7:48
Four of five-year-olds had won 32 of the previous 36 runnings.
Sean CollinsHOST
13:42
Now, Scott, from your perspective, being over in Europe, as the year is progressing, how much of a focus is the Breeders' Cup for those European trainers? Like when you're talking to them after a race and kind of getting a gauge on where they're heading as the year goes on, how much is the Breeders' Cup really a central focus for them?
Scott BurtonGUEST
14:01
I think it comes into focus kind of after Royal Ascot, really.
Scott BurtonGUEST
14:05
You get halfway through the year, especially with the classic generation, the three-year-olds, they've run in guineas and derbies and what have you.
Scott BurtonGUEST
14:13
They've gone to Royal Ascot.
Scott BurtonGUEST
14:14
And at that point, if you've got a horse that's really, really competitive, I think that's when... people start thinking about it.
Scott BurtonGUEST
14:19
And that's also when the winning urine races really start to ramp up.

8 MINS LATER

Scott BurtonGUEST
22:20
And it's not just because of his US form.
Scott BurtonGUEST
22:22
It's basically everything he's done in his life away from Ascot.
Marco GhianiGUEST
11:17
But no, it was definitely a career changing and I'm pleased it happened and I'm glad everyone stick and supported me afterwards.
Adam McNamaraHOST
11:25
What's it like that moment to, I want to know about it because I never did it, that moment where you go to pick up that trophy? Because did you do it in Ascot? Did you pick up your trophy at Ascot? You get that parade where all the rest of the jockeys give you sort of a garret of honour, cheering you out, you go to pick up your trophy.
Adam McNamaraHOST
11:40
What did that feel like to get it over the line and get it done?
Marco GhianiGUEST
11:43
It was definitely amazing.
Marco GhianiGUEST
13:21
And especially when you deliver it and then you do it again the next day and the next day and it's, you know, it's really good.
Adam McNamaraHOST
13:28
Yeah.
Adam McNamaraHOST
13:29
So what's the motivation for you now moving on? Because you've got Royal Ascot winner, Champion Apprentice, you're on track to beat your best in Miracle Year.
Adam McNamaraHOST
13:38
What's the next big target for Marco Ghiani? What do you want to achieve? Well, the next big target is to
Ross StevensonHOST

Ross StevensonHOST
0:42
And this is the best.
Nick LuckHOST
33:41
She won a little race, a two-year-old for Jack Morland.
Nick LuckHOST
33:43
She was bought by her current connections at Al Leith Racing, went out to Dubai, ran okay on the dirt, came back, went to Carl Burke, ran okay at Royal Ascot, and then it's just been strength to strength, culminating in that win in the Prix de la Baie de l'Anchon Group 1.
Nick LuckHOST
33:55
And she will be ridden again by young Jack Nicholls at the weekend in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
Nick LuckHOST
34:00
But she's in the sale at Castleton Lions later in the week, so that could just change the complexion of this week a little bit.
Mick MolloyHOST
35:26
Take us into Quinella.
Nick RiewoldtHOST
35:28
When you do your trips, and I'm assuming you go to Ascot and you go to Kentucky and all of these, what ideas do you bring back? Or have we pretty much got it nutted here?
Kylie RogersGUEST
35:37
Oh, look, I think we are the best track in the world, but certainly I have come back with some ideas.
Kylie RogersGUEST
35:41
I just love the bell that rings when the horses come into the straight at Royal Ascot.
Kylie RogersGUEST
35:47
So when I first went to Royal Ascot a couple of years ago, I brought that back.
Kylie RogersGUEST
35:50
So we have a bell that rings as the horses come into our famous Flemington Straight.
Kylie RogersGUEST
35:56
I was very impressed with the commercial abilities of Kentucky Derby, 160,000 people.
