I take it it's not going to be staffed by Australian submariners.

It's not really seconded to the Navy, but it's there at the moment for maintenance, which will be conducted by people from ASC, formerly the Australian Submarine Corporation, which built the Collins-class submarines.

So that'll take a month, and then it'll return in late 2027, late next year, to be part of Submarine Rotational Force West, which is a rotating US and UK submarines going through HMO Stirling, which is on Garden Island in just south of Perth.

And the strategic benefit for the US and the UK is they are obviously close to the Indo-Pacific.

Kevin Scarce has been a senior military figure, head of the Defence Materiel Organisation and then pivoted into South Australian defence role and was integral in South Australia winning, or sorry, ASC winning the Air Warfare Destroyer contract more than 20 years ago.

That's right, yeah.

I was told I can't complain about the doctor because I haven't made a complaint to the other actual doctors.
