Arturs Silovs

They put up a touchdown on the Flyers.

You get, you allow Arturs Silovs, who no, no disrespect, I know he won a Cal- uh, the Calder Cup with the, uh, with the Canucks AHL team.

But you guys-

I like Silovs

He had a great start last year to the season for, for the Flyers.

Uh, but it is Arturs Silovs in goal for Pittsburgh.

A somewhat solid season for him last year, but that goal-

I think Shelob gets the Philly game, and I think Mershov gets the home opener on Saturday against Montreal.

That's just my thinking.

Yeah, that's just what I'm thinking.

We all saw bits and pieces of him last year.

I think what he did in Wilkes-Barre was most impressive and Shelob's was strong too.

Absolutely.

Miroshev has been quite a guy in the locker room.

And that's about all I can confirm.

I don't know much else because at goaltending, do I trust Silovs? Do I trust...

Anybody? Like, no, I don't.

But that's sort of the deal with the Penguins this year.

You know, you're worried about both of their skating in terms of how they translate to the NHL, but I think you saw the sk- the skill and the h- especially the hassy- hockey sense that both of them have there.

Um, I also think, you know, you gotta be happy with how Sergei Merzlyakov played the other night for the Penguins, uh, given that, you know, especially given how poorly Silov's played in that one game, but I mean, it's only one game.

Yeah.

But I think you're real- you know, there's a lot of expectations there on Merzlyakov to hopefully be a major contributor to them this season.

I'm gonna guess from there that you would see Joel Blomqvist get a similar opportunity Saturday night, because we are treating Arturs Silovs as if he is the anointed number one goaltender here.

I'm not gonna turn the second consecutive episode into Silovs [laughs] but I mean, but I mean, it, it sure looks like, you know, if you're, if you're divvying this up, this camp and these preseason games up in the way that Kyle Dubas originally described, which is that this was supposed to be a battle between Murosov and Blomqvist, that you would have each of them play a game to its, to its fullest.

And there's only four of them.

59 goaltenders in the NHL started 25 or more games.

Of those 59, Shelob's ranked 44th.

That's not strong.
